Contact Introduced By[]

New Contact(s)[]

Mark Freeman is a mutant with the ability to communicate with machines. He has been focusing his attention on the Clockwork activity lately, altough he's also interested in the mysterious Lost. Mark makes his home in Skyway City.

Mark can be a little brusque, but he has a connection that no one else can possibly match.

Information[]

Gun Dealer

A staunch defender of the second amendment, Carla Brunelli believes that force must be met with force. In a place as dangerous as Paragon City, she does good business selling weapons, but Carla is no cold-hearted profiteer. She goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to background checks, using her police contacts to make sure she's not selling firearms to criminals. A major leader in her neighborhood watch program, Carla's greatest concern is keeping the city's streets safe.

Story Arc[]

The Clean out the Clockwork warehouse mission and the Hit the streets and take down some Clockwork minions mission can occur in either order.

Souvenir[]

An etched Clockwork piece

You've kept this piece of a Clockwork robot with the words 'help me' scratched into it. It's a reminder of the mechanic Lou, whose family you rescued from the Clockwork King in a mission you've come to think of as:

The Clockwork Captive

It began with a couple of routine Clockwork missions. While clearing out a Clockwork nest, you found a note indicating that a man was being held captive by the Clockwork. While defeating Clockwork on the streets of Paragon City, you found a Clockwork robot with the words 'help me' inscribed on its surface.

Your contact sent you to a Clockwork den to find the missing man, but you returned with only a scribbled note. The words 'CVX-1701 junction RVB-0070' were the only legible text. Your contact suspected these words were an address and sent you to the city representative to test this theory.

Your contact was correct. The note referred to an address of sorts: an unused annex of the sewer system. You journeyed there and rescued the mechanic from the Clockwork. Lou had some interesting observations about the engineering of the Clockwork. Despite the obvious fact that the robots do function, Lou claimed their designs were technically impossible.

Lou also told you that his wife and daughter had been kidnapped to ensure his cooperation. You went to Lou's shop to look for clues and discovered that the women had been held there all along. You freed them and repelled the Clockwork infestation from Lou's shop.

Clean out the Clockwork warehouse[]

Briefing

We've uncovered another nest of Clockwork in an abandoned warehouse. I need a hero to get in there and clean out the Clockwork warehouse. If we don't move fast, these metal monstrosities will take over our city.

As always, look for clues about the locations of other nests.

Mission Objective(s)

The sharp, chemical scent of machine oil cuts through the musty odor of old dust.

  • Defeat all Clockwork, Search for clues
    • Seek clues

You defeated the Clockwork and found a clue.

Bulletin board note
You found this note on a bulletin board in a Clockwork nest. It reads:

'The prisoner will cooperate, or he will suffer the consequences. All must serve the might purpose of the Clockwork King!'

Debriefing

This note you found certainly does make it seem like someone is being forced to help the Clockwork King. I will get the word out on the street. Maybe we can find this man before it's too late.

Hit the streets and take down some Clockwork minions[]

Briefing

These Clockwork are becoming a serious problem. There is another nest somewhere in this city, but we are having a hard time finding its exact location. Maybe you could hit the streets and take down some Clockwork minions. You might be able to get a sense of where they're coming from.

Good luck, and try to figure out where they are coming from!

Mission Objective(s)

  • Locate Clockwork nest
    • Defeat 10 Clockwork

Something catches your eye in the rubble of Clockwork pieces.

An etched Clockwork piece
This is a piece of a Clockwork robot. The words 'help me' are clearly scratched into the metal.

Debriefing

Look at this! It looks like someone is being imprisoned by the Clockwork!

The note on the bulletin board, the engraved clockwork robot. They both point to the same conclusion: someone is being forced to work for the Clockwork. It's up to you to do something about it.

Rescue the kidnapping victim before the Clockwork can move him[]

Briefing

According to the leads from your last two Clockwork missions, someone is being held captive by the Clockwork. I've had all my heroes working on the case, and I have a lead on the place where this guy is being held. It's and old abandoned warehouse. You better rescue that kidnapping victim before the Clockwork can move him again!

Finding this man may do more than save his life; it may clue us in to the King's next big plot!

Mission Objective(s)

The systematic scavenging of metal from the door frames shows that the Clockwork have found a use for this old office.

  • Look for kidnapping victim

You found a garbled note. Perhaps your contact can decipher it.

The kidnapped man wasn't there? They must have moved him! I hope this note you found can lead us to his new location.

This note looks like it could be an address, or an intersection of some sort. It must be a clue to the victim's location; we just need to figure it out!

Take the note to the city representative[]

Briefing

It's too bad you didn't get to the warehouse in time to save that kidnapping victim. But at least he was clever enough to leave us a note. Will you take the note over to the city representative? I'm hoping she can tell us if it refers to some location inside the city.

Hurry back; we probably don't have much time.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Take note to city representative

Sewer junction map
This map is of an unused annex of the sewer system. It is labeled 'CVX-1701 junction RVB-0070.'
Debriefing

Your friend was right. This is an intersection, though not of two streets. It's an old annex to the sewer system, off the main lines. Here, take this map back to your contact and see if you can come up with a plan.

Debriefing

Aha, so the note did give us an address! Now that we have a map to his new location, we should be able to find the kidnapped man quickly.

Find the man the Clockwork are holding hostage[]

Briefing

The Clockwork don't know the man they kidnapped managed to leave you a clue to his location. So they won't be expecting trouble. You should enter the sewers at this point. I hope you can find the man the Clockwork are holding hostage.

Good luck. I don't think I have to tell you how important this mission is.

Mission Objective(s)

Ah, the sewers of Paragon City. Will you ever be able to forget this smell?

  • Defeat all Clockwork in sewers
    • Rescue Clockwork hostage

You rescued Lou, the mechanic forced to work for the Clockwork.

Conversation with Lou
When you rescued him, Lou said:

'You! You must have gotten all the clues I left. Oh, thank heavens! They forced me to help them with their insane designs. None of those designs should have worked at all, but somehow they did.

'I'm grateful for my freedom, but the Clockwork still have my wife and daughter! They are holding them hostage; I don't know where. Please save Eunice and Caroline for me! Please!'

Debriefing

I never doubted you'd rescue that mechanic from the Clockwork. I still can't believe his family's been kidnapped too. It's just so horrible! How could any sane person do such a thing?

So Lou was being forced to help the Clockwork King, even though he couldn't understand the engineering behind any of the King's designs? Strange. Where is the logic behind this crime?

Find a clue that will lead you to Lou's missing wife and daughter[]

Briefing

You did good work rescuing that mechanic from the Clockwork, but your job isn't over yet. We still need to find a clue that will lead us to Lou's missing wife and daughter. I need you to head over to Lou's shop and look for a lead.

Lou said he usually keeps the back room locked. You may have to look around for a key.

Mission Objective(s)

You saw a Clockwork minion entering Lou's shop. It was carrying a bag of groceries, obviously not for itself. You deduce that the Clockwork King has been keeping Lou's family here all along.

  • Check out Lou's shop
    • Unlock back room

You rescued Lou's family!

Lou called. His wife and kid are back home with him, and he's eternally grateful to you. I'm proud to have worked with you on this.

You did a great thing today. Lou and his family are safe at home, and the Clockwork King is short a few more minions. I really wonder what he expected to get out of Lou. According to Lou, the Clockwork are mechanically impossible, yet they work nevertheless. This is going to require further investigation.

Test EMP Glove on Clockwork[]

Briefing

The boys at DATA have cooked up a new gadget they think may help us defeat the Clockwork. It's called the EMP Glove, and it sends out an electromagnetic pulse that should disrupt the robots' circuitry. Can you test the EMP Glove on the Clockwork? I'd recommend starting in Kings Row or Steel Canyon.

I'll be very interested to hear how this EMP Glove performs in the field.

Temporary Power:

The EMP Glove temporary power is awarded upon mission acceptance.

Temporary EMPGlove EMP Glove Ranged Energy Damage, Foe -Endurance
his glove can deliver a high power, focused Electromagnetic Pulse to a target. Deals good damage and can drain Endurance from the target. Very effective against machines of all types. The EMP Glove has 30 charges.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Test EMP Glove on Clockwork
    • Defeat 10 Clockwork

You have collected enough data on the EMP Glove.

Debriefing

It's strange that the EMP Glove wasn't much more effective than your regular powers. I guess the DATA scientists will have to go back to the drawing board.

Rescue the scientists from the Clockwork[]

Briefing

There's been a Clockwork attack on the university campus! The engineering department was hosting a robotics seminar, and several of the speakers were kidnapped by those stange Clockwork robots. I need you to rescue those scientists from the Clockwork. Paragon City won't lose her greatest minds on my watch.

Watch out for the big Clockwork robot known as Copperknot/Rebar/Alloy. From what I understand, he's pretty dangerous.

Mission Objective(s)

A pleading voice goes totally unanswered.

  • Defeat Copperknot and its minions
    • 5 scientists to save

You rescued the kidnapped scientists from the Clockwork.

The dean's story
When you rescued the Dean of Engineering, he told you:

'This may sound crazy, but I think they wanted revenge! The five of us hold patents for the most advanced robots in use today. I think the Clockwork King is angry that we're receiving credit for our work, while he's regarded as a madman!'

Notable NPCs

Enemies

Debriefing

So, the dean thinks the Clockwork King is jealous of the scientists he kidnapped. I suppose that makes sense. After all, the King has produced some of the most ingenious robots on the planet. If he hadn't retreated into villainy, he'd probably be given a Nobel prize!

Stop the Clockwork assaults in Steel Canyon[]

Briefing

I'm getting some disturbing reports about the Clockwork activity in Steel Canyon. It seems they're no longer content to scavenge from the streets. Now they're assaulting any citizen who happens to be wearing jewelry, a watch, or anything else metallic. You've got to stop the Clockwork assaults in Steel Canyon, Hero.

You could try looking for Clockwork in Blyde Square or near Silver Lake. But I'm sure any neighborhood in Steel Canyon could use your help.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Combat Clockwork in Steel Canyon
    • Defeat 10 Clockwork

Debriefing

Thanks, Hero, you did a great job. Steel Canyon residents are breathing a little easier now.

(CLOCKWORK IN STEEL CANYON: Clockworks aren't a common sight in SC at this level. They are somewhat common in the rooftops of the Icon (Tailor) neighborhood, but those will be too high level for this mission. Your best bet to complete this mission is to check the rooftops of the Freedom Corps store and nearby buildings, as well as the rooftop of the Natural Store. Clockwork only seem to spawn in the rooftops of low buildings in this zone, and those have the lowest level Clockworks I have seen in this zone. A couple of trips to these two locations should clear this mission. Clockwork bosses are notably absent in this zone for some reason, but beware of Lieutenants, which seem to be common. Good luck!)

Talk to Security Chief[]

Briefing

The Trolls are rampaging again! The Security Chief asked for you by name. Find him, and get your assignment.

These rampages are happening more and more. Something has to be done.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Security Chief

Briefing: Skyway City Security Chief

Take this and get on the streets immediately. Stop those Trolls! The've caused a lot of havoc in Vista Plaza and the Astral District.

Skyway City briefing
Back in the 1970s, there was huge drive to create highways to relieve congestion in the city. No one would need to drive on the surface streets - instead, we would drive above them! So the city started building high spanning bridges everywhere, and Skyway City quickly turned into one high highway in sky. Now this zone is home to a street gang that likes to camp out underneath bridges: The Trolls. These are thugs who've mutated, thanks to taking a bit too much Superadine. But watch out: the drug has given many of them inhuman strenght and resistance.
